At Western Reserve Masonic Community, our employees are super stars! We recently sat down with Sharon from Environmental Services so she could share her story and the success she’s had at Western Reserve Masonic Community. Meet Sharon, a Western Reserve Masonic Community Super Star!

How long have you worked at Western Reserve Masonic Community?

I have worked at Western Reserve Masonic Community (WRMC) over 12 years. The last 10 years have been in Independent Living. I enjoy coming to work every day. Our community members feel like family.

What makes Western Reserve Masonic Community different than other senior living communities?

The people! I feel appreciated by both staff and community members. Everyone from the leadership to the staff are so caring. The interaction with the community members makes you want to come to work every day. You get a good feeling just knowing that you are helping others.

Here you work as a team. There is that feeling of camaraderie and we have fun while doing our job. You get to have a real

connection with the community members and the other staff members. It’s such fun to listen to our community members. They are very possessive of their housekeepers. You will hear them talking to each other and hear comments like “she’s mine” or “she’s just the best.” To know that you are making someone happy is the best part of my day.

What do your daily responsibilities include?

As a team leader, I get to do a variety of tasks from training news employee and answering their questions to cleaning the residences of our community members. I clean five residences per day and I start cleaning in their homes at 9:00 AM. You are in each residence approximately one hour.

I do basic cleaning such as kitchens (sink, counter top, stove, refrigerator, microwaves, etc.) and bathrooms. I also dust and vacuum too. Each residence is cleaned every two weeks. While cleaning, you really develop a relationship with the community members. That’s the best part of each day. They may ask you to move something on a shelf that they can’t reach comfortably, the little things that brighten their day.

What are some of your favorite benefits Western Reserve Masonic Community offers?

I feel that we have great benefits at WRMC. Our insurance covers our medical, dental and vision. Everybody needs insurance and here we don’t have to worry about it.

Our PTO time accrues continually. There is no end date. That is a huge relief in case you get sick and need to be off more than a day or two.

What would you tell a prospective applicant about Western Reserve Masonic Community?

Come on! It’s a good place to work, actually it’s a great place to work! We have great managers and excellent leadership. They are always open to employees, and they are always willing to listen if you have questions or need to talk. You couldn’t ask for a better leadership team.

Why do you love working at Western Reserve Masonic Community?

The people! All the people, the staff and most importantly the community members. You become their extended family. You find yourself having conversations that start out like “I remember you when you first moved in…”

Sadly, we lose some of our community members as they come to the end of their life. Sometimes we help their families by packing their belongings in the nicest way possible. That can be such a hard task for family members, and sometimes it is hard for us too. We will know that we did our best for the community member and their families and we will carry the good memories with us for the rest of our lives.
